Glass Bead String Bell Garment

琉璃珠串鈴衣，以麻布為底，正面下襬與背面三分之二處縫有紅底棉布。棉布上方有與彩色琉璃及鈴鐺綴飾。背面有六道紅色棉線與鈴鐺組成的橫向紋飾。貝珠鈴衣為泰雅族傳統禮服之一，與貝珠衣具有同等價值，是泰雅族最貴重的禮服。只有在祭典慶儀時，傳統領袖、族長或勇士才可穿著。使用的場合為祭典活動，特別針對馘首後的凱旋祭。在凱旋祭中穿著綴有銅鈴的服裝，於舞蹈時發出陣陣悅耳的鈴聲，以表彰馘首者的地位及成就。所有者逝世後會隨著陪葬。

The long vest is made of linen fabric with a piece of red cotton fabric on the lower front and two-thirds of the back and adorned with strands of glass beads and bells. This garment is one of the traditional costumes of the Atayal people and holds the same value as the shell bead vest, making it the most precious attire among the Atayal people. It is typically worn during ritual events, especially during the victory celebration after headhunting, and worn only by traditional leaders, tribal chiefs, or warriors. Wearing clothing adorned with copper bells during the victory celebration produces a pleasant jingling sound during dances, symbolizing the status and achievements of the headhunters. After the owner’s passing, it is often buried with them as part of their funerary customs.
